Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 at Memphis Funeral Home Germantown Parkway Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28 at Memphis Funeral Home Germantown Parkway Chapel. Burial will be in Memory Hill Gardens. Butch was a 1959 graduate of Kingsbury High School where he held the title of "Mr. KHS"; he was an outside sales associate with United Rentals; a former deacon for Raleigh Baptist Church, now Bartlett Hills Baptist Church; and a member of the Raleigh Masonic Lodge. Butch was known for his joy for life and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Butch is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Lynda (Patey) McCarter (KHS'61); daughter, Michelle (Mark) Henry of Atoka; son, Mitch (Vickey) McCarter of Oakland; brother, Mickey McCarter; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Steve Hagen; mother and father-in-law, Paul and Wilma Patey; two granddaughters, Savannah McCarter and Ashlyn Henry, he was known as Pops to them; and many, many friends.
